Museo d'Arte Moderna (MASI)

The Museum of Art of Italian Switzerland (MASILugano) was born from the union between the Cantonal Museum of Art and the Museum of Art of the City of Lugano, public institutions active for decades in the city territory.

The project of bringing the two institutions together in a single museum has matured to respond to the natural development needs of the two museums that have been working in one direction since 2012.

The creation of MASI, in addition to optimizing resources, strengthens museum projects allowing greater flexibility with respect to programming and the spaces in which it can be articulated. The activity of the MASI takes place in parallel in two locations: the main one located within the new building of the LAC and the historic one of Palazzo Reali, formerly the seat of the Cantonal Art Museum.
